Recently it has been theorized that mankind can’t even make a dent in what appears to be a natural CO2 cycle where the oceans absorb and ‘gas off’ C02 every 60 years.  From data that has been compiled and recently presented by Dr. Beck, we are entering an absorptive phase and never reached the CO2 levels of 1940 or 1880.

Ouch! …and there has been a increasing crescendo of evidence that our meager industrial puffery is insignificant.  Combine this with the oceans going into a cooling phase and the sun going to sleep and you have to wonder if Obama even has enough time to jump on the band wagon.

While the G8 talks about 2050 for serious reductions in the biota nutrient CO2, global warming politicians raise the notion that 2012 should be a line in the sand.  You have to wonder if there is more knowledge out there about the future demise of AGW due to a coming climate cycle.  Everybody seems to be stepping up their agenda to get it in place before the contrary evidence is overwhelming, or trying to hold off until the issue naturally blows away.  … pre-2030 and post-2030 …  

In the mean time, Alberta has promised to spend inordinate amounts of money on neat technology to aswage the political beast that is now.

Recently the Canadian Government apoligized for ‘Residential Schools’ run by the Catholic Church which were the worst example of social engineering and ultimately a form of cultural genocide.  Reparations were part of the mix and there is controversy about the benefit.  At the same time I think Canadians are coming to terms with their past and in many communities aboriginals and euro’s are the minority.

Then I came across a documentary on Public Television in the US called ‘Traces of the Trade, a Story from the Deep North’.  It talked about a extention of one family’s rise to financial fortune in the North and its complicity with the Union government.

I was a supervisor in Macon, Georgia for 5 years in a facility with a 60% black hourly staff and 80% white management.  Although, one of the best Process Control Engineers I met was a young Black lady at that facility.   Still the racial divide was evident and as a Western Canadian one of my operators made me an honorary ‘Black Man’.  I’m sorry but I just didn’t fit into Southern white culture. 

I have come to regard race as primarily over-rated ‘family lines’ and I believe Biology is proving me right.  We are identical.  The nuances are purely for taste and opinion and I have been convinced …

Although I resisted the idea of reparations, the Canadian experience has changed my mind.  For the Cherokee we should hang President Jackson in ephagy, but now I have come to understand he kept the Slave Trade going as well even in the North … even illegally.  It appears he had almost no respect for juris prudence and rule of law.

Admit it America and apologize and even figure out a way to ‘pay up’ constructively.

I’m so tired, very wired … why can’t I close my eyes?  … I think it was the BoomTown Rats on their hit album with … whatever.

Maybe I can go outside in Solar Cycle 24 and full knowledge of the future with this in my headphones!

‘Vanished’ is apparently the hit …

Canada apologized for its most abysmal action in its history today.  Residential Schools were a blatant arrogant form of the most despicable form of social engineering participated in by human beings and enacted on each other.

It is akin in violence and horror to warring tribes (of all regions on Earth) going in and killing all the men and/or children and raping all the women in not so distant past of human history.  The intent is simple and obvious.  Wipe out any vistage of the competition’s humanity, vigor and even existance.

Was the betrayal by the Canadian government as insidious as President Jackson and his confiscation of the Cherokee Nation in disregard to his own ‘due process’, jurisprudence and even Supreme Court?  Was it as insidious as the step backwards by a hundred years in the Southeastern US where ’law and property’ were replaced again by the Machiavellian maneuvering of the entitled?  Was the Canadian betrayal greater than the ‘Trail of Tears’?

Probably not, but Residential Schools were much more personal.  They took the children.

It is sad that these events took place and one can only imagine how much richer North American culture would have been with a more vibrant and confident contribution from one of the most successful groups of human beings after the ice receded from the last ice age.  The heritage they built over the past 10,000 years is truly amazing and as interesting as those cultures that developed in kinder climates.

The apology of the Canadian Government was a small mercy in a huge tragedy of human ignorance.  It doesn’t fix anything or even change anything because … it happened.  However, it can become a starting point for something better.  Understanding washes away ignorance.

While visiting this wonderful museum near Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, I found some interesting information.  It appears in the Northern Short Grass Plains warmer periods were less productive than the cold periods where there was increased moisture.  With moisture being the constraint, biological activity as evidenced in bison populations actually increased during cool periods.

To quote an interesting book I found there, “Record in Stone, Familiar Projectile Points from Alberta” from the ‘Archeological Society of Alberta’:

The climate grew gradually warmer and drier, reaching a peak from 7000 years ago with summer mean temperatures as much as 3C warmer than today … productivity in the plains dropped.

and

As the climate became cooler and moister on the plains, grasslands productivity and hence bison populations rose.  Cultural groups were again able to specialize in bison hunting, and from 5500 years ago onward we see evidence of repetitive use of bison jumps on the Northwestern Plains. …

I’m not sure the other ungulates (deer, elk, caribou, moose) faired as well during these periods in the boreal forest North of the Plains.  However, it appears the weak maxima we experienced in the 80’s and 90’s is not the best for the flora and fauna that has evolved in my area.

The coming cold will not be all bad.

I just love this diagram which summarizes Theodore Landscheidt’s model for the Earth’s Climate.  Basically it shows the calculated torque on the Sun by the Planets and it’s relationship to the climate extrema over the past millennia.  It shows we are entering a new deep minima in 2030.  The diagram is from his paper, “Global Warming or Little Ice Age”.

It is curious in the face of mounting evidence that a group suggests we are in a cooling period within Anthropogenic Global Warming.  In the Daily Telegraph they state,

“Global warming will stop until at least 2015 because of natural variations in the climate”.

Is someone trying to buy themselves a little time before they are declared ‘not scientifically viable’?

February, 2009…  This is when we’ll all have ‘visibility’ on the validity of the Planets/Jupiter=>Sun=>Earth theory of the climate.

1)  The character of this winter will be evident.
2)  The minimum of ice extent in the Arctic will be known and the maximum extent of the 2008/9 season will be evident.
3)  We will know how far Antarctica grew to and the next summer minimum will be evident.
4)  Most important, the transition from Solar Cycle 23 to Solar Cycle 24 will have played out longer and there is almost a straight line relationship between the length of a Solar Cycle and its strength.  So the character of Solar Cycle 24 will be evident, even if it hasn’t started.

Be happy, you are witnessing history.  Just remember we will ’Print the Legend’ as this video says and history will be lost to most people.  What will ‘The Legend’ be that we remember for this period of history?  I have no visibility on that .  I do think it is possible, the establishment will simply sweep Athropogenic Global Warming under the rug and carry on like it never happened.  It can only be fodder for comedians for a decade? … and then all will be forgotten.

I have more good news from the ongoing intermintent investigations on Global Cooling.

I discovered there is an ENSO phenomena in the Atlantic called the Western Hemisphere Warm Pool (WHWP) and it cycles as well.  There is some indication it is connected to ENSO through the troposphere and has a mirror oscillation.

From what I can tell, this means when La Nina is blasting away, WHWP is moderating Europe.

So despite evidence from the last ‘Little Ice Age’, where we have an incredible legacy of wonderful painting, that Europe was cool. They still had WHWP taking the edge off.

Theodor Landscheidt before he died in 2004, predicted the last El Nino in 2007, but also said during this Deep Minimum bottoming out in 2030 (and starting now), there would be repeated strong La Nina’s and weak El Nino’s … the opposite of the period ending with the 2007 El Nino.

So from the historical record we can see what the moderated minimum did to the Mer de Glace in the French Alps below.  What does that means for the Columbia Ice fields in the Rockies between Jasper and Banff?  A quick recovery ?  Reminds me of a scientist who said, “Would you rather live when glaciers are advancing or receding?”

Another study I found suggested there were only slightly lowered tree lines in the Rockies during the ‘Little Ice Age’.

However, I still have to conclude, both sides of the Atlantic will get the bulk of the moderation.  On the North American continent, East is Best .

Ok, I give …. I didn’t mean to say ‘West is Best’.

With Alberta feeling like late November, snow in Nanaimo, and vineyards in California feeling a nip, I have to admit bias and error just as I did with Natural Gas.

I will have to look at it more but it appears the ENSO cycle which is in a strong La Nina doesn’t do ‘West Coast Moderation’.  Someone will have to let me know if there is something equivalent to ENSO in the Atlantic but from what I saw the Gulf Stream carried on like it was normal, keeping Western Europe consequence free for their latitude, and that it will continue to do so.

This winter is going to be a blast.
