The New Normal … Back to ‘Climate Change’
Since Rio’s UN Earth Summit in 1992, I’ve noticed that when the current weather was at odds with AGW theory, the mantra would change from ‘Global Warming’ to ‘Climate Change’ and back again. A recent study that resurrects the silly notion (remember, the debate is over) that the earth’s surface temperature is related to ’solar output’ (original *.pdf here) suggests this is becoming more evident and that the recent cooling is only the beginning. I have an essay from the time of Rio that has this as ‘one of the hurdles’ for AGW theory to pass. There are others that are still ignored and dismissed outright. I guess statements by Al Gore that the debate is over and the EU and UN’s creative verbage when data diverges from dogma constitute an irrefutable conclusion.
Joseph D’Aleo’s conclusion:
“Clearly the US annual temperatures over the last century have correlated far better with cycles in the sun and oceans than carbon dioxide. The correlation with carbon dioxide seems to have vanished or even reversed in the last decade. Given the recent cooling of the Pacific and Atlantic and rapid decline in solar activity, we might anticipate given these correlations, temperatures to accelerate downwards shortly.”
I guess that means we will hear about how ‘Climate Change’ killed the northern pine beetle infestation and saved the polar bears
