Minnesotan’s for Global Warming
December 28th, 2008
William Katz of www.urgentagenda.com asked Frank Tipler to give his present views on AGW Theory.
He said among other things on the post …
(2) It is obvious that anthropogenic global warming is not science at all, because a scientific theory makes non-obvious predictions which are then compared with observations that the average person can check for himself. As we both know from our own observations, AGW theory has spectacularly failed to do this. The theory has predicted steadily increasing global temperatures, and this has been refuted by experience. NOW the global warmers claim that the Earth will enter a cooling period. In other words, whether the ice caps melt, or expand — whatever happens — the AGW theorists claim it confirms their theory. A perfect example of a pseudo-science like astrology.

Wow, I wonder what happens to the plastic on their cars or if they just let them run 24 hours/day at these temperatures.
‘Watts up with That’ reports on colder than normal temperatures at the coldest inhabited place on earth, Verkhojansk, Russia.
I complained earlier after renting ‘No Intelligence Allowed’ mistakenly for a laugh and was only bombarded with the discussion of a simpleton. Now, I have to go to an interview of Bill Maher discussing his new documentary Religulous (below) to get some intelligence. Then again, he actually markets his movie as a docu-comedy and delivers.
What I have to wonder is why the following ‘intelligent’ rebuttal of the broad comedic swipes of Bill Maher by Father Barron was missing in ‘No Intelligence Allowed’. Father Barron gives us a very interesting and compelling discussion of the issues without having to invent some weird ‘construct’ (Intelligent Design) to counter real science (Evolution).

Landscheidt Cycle Research has undergone a refresh with Carl Smith passing on his wonderful work to Geoff Sharp to manage and explore further.

I wonder what you do on a wonderful morning at -67 F or -55 C …
My prediction is we’ll get over the 30 year average for the Arctic Ice Cap this year and forget global warming. We are bobbing around at the end of an interglacial. Hopefully the sun doesn’t push into the normal state of the present ice age we are in.
I am starting to feel rejected
After creating a facebook page (link) by the name of “Canadians for a Liberal & Conservative Coalition, the response has been notably muted. My wife doesn’t know I made it and she even said it was ‘a wonderful idea’ with a snear on her face. Amusing but have we really come to this? She doesn’t even follow politics and generally takes my advice on how to vote.
The prospect of an NDP, Bloc power grab supported by the Liberals was truly frightening. The fact that Jason Kenney directly courts many of the Liberals urban supporters shows that this is really untenable for anyone wanting a reasonable government.

Somehow as Canadians we have to get past this. Partisan politics can only get us so far, but I agree consensus politics is more often silly than useful. In the world with shades of grey however, the idea that the often blurred division between Canadian Liberals and Canadian Conservatives is a line worth building a wall on is scary given the math. It only can mean that old world socialists can grab power and that is frightening in a world in the deepest recession since ‘the big one’.
Somehow, we have to get Parliament working to the majority’s satisfaction and not to the satisfaction of ivory tower intellectuals fighting over flavors of ice cream.
As it is even reasonable men start to look tired and stupid.
Stephen Harper may be at fault for the tone of the supposed crisis in Ottawa but he is right about one thing. Nobody voted for the Coalition Contraption being proposed by the idiot savants. The notion of letting Jack and Dion with Duceppe in hand bumble along like the three stooges with the public purse would get 10% of the vote.
Personally in my wanton Machiavellian soul (Evil Twin coming out), I welcome the coalition because we can afford their stupidity and it would bring to a head all the silly notions on the fringe of Canadian Politics. Let the 300 pound sloth into the light so we can acknowledge our folly. The coalition contraption will self destruct soon enough when the open ground war gets underway with the provinces and this meeting of the mindless in Ottawa pits the regions against one another. Nation building indeed! It would be such grand fun and you could just turn it off because … it just doesn’t matter.
So in conclusion if I put on my ‘Mr. Reasonable’ hat … PROROUGE PARLIAMENT! Put it to sleep for a few months. I would wager even by the end of January there will be evidence that the Coalition Contraption notions would be ’pissing into the wind’. On top of that there is learned opinion that the Canadian Government can spend on things it KNOWS EVERYONE AGREES TO. So any spending measure where handing wads of cash to GM or Bombardier are involved … you don’t need parliament immediately.
As far as clowns like Ed Broadbent go, they should just stick to their roles as relics of the past. Go Home and GO TO SLEEP … like Parliament will
