Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock Review (XBOX 360) Contributor: Ad 9/10 January 25, 2008

Guitar hero is a 2 Year old series about doing crazy guitar solos on a plastic guitar controller.
Formerly developed by Harmonix, it has now moved over to Neversoft, the Tony Hawk team.
The story of guitar hero is pretty close to what it has always been, but is now expressed through
very short cut scenes that differ in co-op and solo. You start off as a garage- band and quickly
work your way up to being rock stars. It hardly influences much in the game, but really… what did
you expect?
The graphics in guitar hero have improved a lot over the previous one. The notes look sharper,
the interface is sleeker, the models don’t look like plastic, and the singers lip syncing is a whole
lot better. There is one thing that always annoyed me… one of the singers has a mouth like a
Canadian in South Park.
The gameplay in guitar hero is simple but fun. It revolves around the plastic guitars pictured at
the bottom (I only have the X-Plorer so I couldn’t include it in my review). The notes come at you
on what almost looks like a fancy conveyor belt. You hit the notes by holding a by holding a
coloured fret button and pushing down on the strum bar.
There is a lot new such as boss battles and battle mode where star power is replaced with these
weird looking stars that you use to attack your opponent. In the boss battles, there are 3 of them
in the game, you battle Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machines, Slash from Guns ‘n Roses
and Lou (the Devil) from… well… Hell. There is also an amazing song list with almost all of them
the originals, not covers.
The multiplayer is pretty much the same, I has a co-op career, normal co-op, face off, pro face
off, and battle mode. Battle mode is basically the same as the boss battles except it is against a
real player, and once you play it a little bit you will see that is pretty un-balanced. The placement
of which power ups go at which string of battle notes is completely random. For the first time in
the series there is actually online play. It is pretty fun to go in and get owned by people playing
on expert or owning people worse than you.
